About
Upon coming to New Zealand Maria in 2011, Maria decided to embark on a new career path, changing teaching for jewelry making. Now she lives and works from her home studio in Laingholm. All her pieces are made by hand, using argon welding and hydraulic metal forming. In her latest work she explores combinations of pearls and reclaimed vintage gemstones with different metals, as well as various ways of creating texture on titanium and niobium. Maria particularly likes working with titanium as it is really light, hypoallergenic, highly durable and produces beautiful colours when anodized.
